Thomas H. Lee, MD, has been named Network President for Partners and CEO of Partners Community HealthCare (PCHI), making permanent the roles he has held on an interim basis for the past month. He will also continue to serve as director of the Partners Signature Initiatives to improve the quality and efficiency of the care provided throughout the Partners network. As chief medical officer of PCHI, Lee has played a major role in the growth and development of the network. He has been a key participant in payer negotiations since PCHI was formed. Externally, he has been an especially effective advocate on PCHI’s behalf with employers and other constituencies. “Those of you who have worked with Tom know that he combines a unique ability to develop truly innovative approaches to improving care with a real skill at effectively implementing them,” said James Mongan, MD, president and CEO of Partners HealthCare. “Tom is a leader in every sense of the word.” . An internist and cardiologist, Lee is also an associate editor of The New England Journal of Medicine and editor-in-chief of The Harvard Heart Letter. He is co-chair of the Committee for Performance Measures of the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and has been chairman of the NCQA’s Cardiovascular Measurement Advisory Panel since 1996. He is also on the Boards of the Massachusetts Health Quality Partnership and Bridges to Excellence, a national partnership he helped design to improve health care quality.
